The Sofia Lattice modern rug brings a geometric precision to a living room or dining area with its clean intersecting lattice pattern. The thick high-low polypropylene pile gives the geometric design genuine physical presence — this is a rug where the pattern stands out, the texture rewards being seen up close, and the Turkish construction ensures it performs as well as it looks across any size.
Take Sofia Lattice Modern out of the box and the colour is closer to the photo than most rugs we ship — which is a small but meaningful thing.
How it's made
At a glance: From Turkey's long power-loom tradition. We've worked with Turkish mills for decades — the country's heritage in rugs runs deep, and the power-loom programmes are some of the most consistent in the world. Polypropylene is a thermoplastic, which means stains do not bond to the fibre the way they would with a natural staple. The back of the rug shows the construction clearly — close, even stitching, no slack spots, no thin patches.
Practical notes
In practice, in a typical Australian living room — engineered oak in a natural finish, off-white walls — it sits comfortably without competing for attention. Wipe spills with a damp cloth, vacuum on a regular setting, and rotate the rug end-to-end once a year. Nothing else is required. It holds its shape under a heavy sofa and shrugs off the small dents that lighter constructions can't recover from.
About the look
What is happening at the surface is straightforward. The palette here is restrained, which is exactly what most of our customers tell us they're looking for. Visually, the rug is doing the work of a quiet anchor — not a pattern statement, not a punctuation mark, simply a calm plane underfoot. Photographs flatten the surface; in person, the weave reads with more dimension than any catalogue image can convey.
On sizing
If you are between sizes, we almost always recommend sizing up. Our Rug Size Guide has the room-by-room measurements we use ourselves.
Worth committing to if you want a rug you can live with for the long haul.
Things customers ask
Can I steam clean this rug?
Light steam is fine for synthetic pile. Avoid prolonged direct heat in one spot, and let the rug dry completely before walking on it.
Do you offer samples?
We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.
Will this rug shed?
No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.
Will the rug fade in direct sun?
Some fade is possible if a rug sits in direct, unfiltered sun day after day — that's true of any rug. The dyes used here are UV-stabilised and hold up well to the conditions in most Australian rooms.
Can I cut the rug to size?
We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.
