Emerald green in a living room is not a compromise — it is a commitment to a look that is bold, sophisticated, and impossible to regret. The Sofia Emerald modern rug grounds a room in a rich jewel tone that suits both maximalist styling and surprisingly minimal interiors where one strong colour does all the work. The thick high-low pile adds physical depth to the colour — this is a rug that has genuine presence.
We picked Sofia Emerald Modern for the range because it sits comfortably in the kind of homes most of our customers actually live in.
How it's made
In one line: Woven in Turkey. Turkey remains the place where heritage design and modern weaving meet most comfortably — you get the look of a hand-knotted rug at a fraction of the cost. Modern polypropylene is a long way from the scratchy synthetic of twenty years ago. Soft underfoot, dense in the weave, and entirely washable. The back of the rug shows the construction clearly — close, even stitching, no slack spots, no thin patches.
How it handles real life
Day to day, in any room with white-washed timber, this rug adds the visual weight the floor needs to feel finished. Care for this one as you would a hard floor — sweep or vacuum regularly and address spills when they happen. The fibre does the rest. If you have a Roomba or similar, the pile here is short enough that it will get a proper clean without snagging.
On colour
What is happening at the surface is straightforward. Cream-based rugs sit comfortably in almost any palette — they brighten without bleaching the room out. There is enough texture in the weave to keep the surface visually interesting without breaking the calm of the palette. Across a 200x290cm or 240x330cm, that calm reads as confidence rather than absence.
Sizing
Most of our customers go a size larger than their first instinct. Our Rug Size Guide explains why.
If your starting point is 'something honest that doesn't shout', this is the rug to short-list.
FAQs
Will it cope with kids and pets?
Yes, comfortably. Synthetic pile is stain-resistant, doesn't snag under claws, and lifts spills cleanly. It's the construction we recommend most to growing families.
Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?
There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.
Does it work with a robot vacuum?
Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.
Will this rug shed?
No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.
Do you offer samples?
We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.
