Roman is a rug collection that offers both style and practicality. Featuring a variety of designs with non-distinct all-over patterns in grey, terracotta, blue, and brown tones, these rugs are versatile and blend seamlessly with a variety of decor styles.
Roman Rockwell Cream Grey Hallway Runner is the kind of rug we describe to customers as 'considered without trying'.
Built and finished
Underneath the look, Anatolian-woven. The Turkish weaving industry has refined power-loom production to a point where the result is genuinely close to the look of a traditionally woven rug. Polypropylene fibre handles wine, juice, and muddy paws with a damp cloth and a bit of patience — which is why we recommend it to most growing families. At 20mm of pile, this is a true sink-your-feet-in shaggy. Construction-wise, this is built to look the same six months in as the day it arrived.
How it handles real life
This is the kind of piece that works in a Tweed Heads beach house where the climate calls for something that handles humidity without complaint. For everyday care, vacuum weekly and spot-clean spills as they happen — a damp cloth and a small amount of mild detergent handles almost anything. It handles a Labrador, a Cavoodle, or two of each. We have heard variations on that brief many times. Once you have it down, the rug is one of the lowest-maintenance pieces of furniture you will ever buy.
On colour
What is happening at the surface is straightforward. Grey rugs sit quietly in a room and let the rest of the space do the talking — it's why they outsell almost everything else we carry. The pattern reads as quietly contemporary rather than fashionable — the kind of design that doesn't date in a hurry. Layered with a leather chair, a brass floor lamp, and a stack of books, the rug holds its end of the conversation without forcing it.
Which size?
For hallways and galley kitchens, the 80x300cm length we run here is the most commonly bought — our Rug Size Guide walks through how to pick the right length for your space.
Pick this one up if you want a rug you don't have to think about again.
FAQs
Is the colour the same on both sides?
No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.
Can I steam clean this rug?
Light steam is fine for synthetic pile. Avoid prolonged direct heat in one spot, and let the rug dry completely before walking on it.
Does this rug ship rolled or folded?
Rolled. We ship every rug in our range rolled and wrapped — folding can leave a crease in the pile that takes a few weeks to settle out, so we avoid it.
How do I get rid of a stain?
Blot — never rub. Cool water and a small amount of mild detergent on a clean cloth handles most spills. Work from the outside of the stain in. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
Can I put a rug pad underneath?
Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.
