The Ontario Ivory Velvet captures the essence of minimal design with its soft ivory tones and gentle flowing patterns. The low-pile polypropylene construction creates a sleek and refined surface, perfect for modern and uncluttered interiors. Its subtle wave-like texture adds depth and quiet movement to the design, while the neutral palette ensures effortless styling across a wide range of spaces.

We added Ontario Ivory Velvet Soft Hallway Runner to the range for one reason: it does the basics extremely well.

On colour

Worth a moment on the look of it. Cream-based rugs sit comfortably in almost any palette — they brighten without bleaching the room out. The design holds its proportions at every size we run — the medium and large sizes do not look like enlarged versions of the smaller piece. It plays nicely with a low timber coffee table, a linen sofa, and the kind of considered clutter most lived-in rooms accumulate.

Day-to-day

In practice, picture Tasmanian oak floorboards and soft Dulux Whisper White interiors — that is the kind of room this rug is at home in. A handheld vacuum and a damp cloth handle ninety percent of what you will need to do to keep this rug looking right. Rug pad underneath on a hard floor — that is the one accessory we would not skip.

Built and finished

In one line: Carefully made for everyday family use. What matters with this piece is the construction — it's made to take real family use without fuss. Polypropylene is the workhorse fibre of modern rugs — it doesn't absorb spills, it doesn't hold dust, and it bounces back from foot traffic faster than wool. The 13mm pile gives this rug genuine softness underfoot — particularly good for a bedroom or a sitting room you actually want to sit on the floor in. Run your hand across the surface and the pile feels even from corner to corner — that consistency is what separates a well-made rug from a budget one.

On sizing

Runners are about scale, not just length — leave at least 10cm of floor visible on each side of the runner so the hallway doesn't feel boxed in. Our Rug Size Guide has the proportions we recommend.

If your starting point is 'something honest that doesn't shout', this is the rug to short-list.

FAQs

Will it sit flat once unrolled?

Almost always within 24–48 hours. If you see any waves from the rolled packaging, lay the rug pile-up in the room and let it relax overnight — gravity does the rest. For stubborn corners, rolling the rug briefly in the opposite direction usually does it.

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.

Will this rug shed?

No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.

Does it work with a robot vacuum?

Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.
