The Ontario Ivory Velvet captures the essence of minimal design with its soft ivory tones and gentle flowing patterns. The low-pile polypropylene construction creates a sleek and refined surface, perfect for modern and uncluttered interiors. Its subtle wave-like texture adds depth and quiet movement to the design, while the neutral palette ensures effortless styling across a wide range of spaces.
Ontario Ivory Velvet Soft Luxe Modern has the quiet self-confidence of a well-made object — no styling tricks, no marketing veneer.
On colour
What is happening at the surface is straightforward. We sell more cream rugs than any other colour. They suit the way most Australians live: warm-neutral walls, pale timbers, lots of natural light. There is enough texture in the weave to keep the surface visually interesting without breaking the calm of the palette. In strong afternoon light the tones warm noticeably — in cooler southern light, the palette reads slightly more grounded.
What's under the surface
At a glance: Made for the realities of family life. What matters with this piece is the construction — it's made to take real family use without fuss. Polypropylene does not hold odour the way wool can, which matters in a home with pets or open-plan cooking. At 13mm, the pile is on the plusher side of our range — it has the kind of give that makes a bedroom rug worth waking up to. Construction-wise, this is built to look the same six months in as the day it arrived.
How it handles real life
In any room with white-washed timber, this rug adds the visual weight the floor needs to feel finished. Synthetic pile means you can keep on top of it without specialist care — a regular vacuum and the occasional damp wipe is the entire maintenance routine. The pile does not snag, which matters if you have a clawed animal in the house. If you have a Roomba or similar, the pile here is short enough that it will get a proper clean without snagging.
Sizing
A 200x290cm covers most three-seater living rooms; a 240x330cm suits the larger open-plan layouts that have become common in new Australian builds. Our Rug Size Guide shows you which fits.
Worth the cost of admission for any room that needs a quiet, well-made centre point.
FAQs
Will this rug shed?
No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.
Can I cut the rug to size?
We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.
Will it cope with kids and pets?
Yes, comfortably. Synthetic pile is stain-resistant, doesn't snag under claws, and lifts spills cleanly. It's the construction we recommend most to growing families.
Will it sit flat once unrolled?
Almost always within 24–48 hours. If you see any waves from the rolled packaging, lay the rug pile-up in the room and let it relax overnight — gravity does the rest. For stubborn corners, rolling the rug briefly in the opposite direction usually does it.
How thick is the rug overall?
The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.
