A statement of style, this collection features bold, contemporary designs. Machine woven to the highest quality in Turkey, these rugs feature a easy care polypropylene fiber to complement your home.
We chose Novas Grey Red for the range because it covers a brief we get asked about constantly.
Practical notes
This is the kind of piece that works in coastal rooms with linen sofas, rattan accents, and a lot of natural light. A handheld vacuum and a damp cloth handle ninety percent of what you will need to do to keep this rug looking right. Pet-friendly in the most useful sense: claws won't catch the way they do on a looped pile, and the surface vacuums cleanly. Build the room around it. It will hold the centre and stay quiet while the rest of the space changes around it.
How it looks
Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. Grey rugs sit quietly in a room and let the rest of the space do the talking — it's why they outsell almost everything else we carry. Up close, the construction details emerge; from across the room, the rug reads as a single restrained colour field. Stand in the doorway and the rug barely registers; sit on the floor and the texture and pile depth come forward.
Construction
Underneath the look, made in Turkey on power looms. Turkey remains the place where heritage design and modern weaving meet most comfortably — you get the look of a hand-knotted rug at a fraction of the cost. We sell a lot of polypropylene because it does the one thing most Australian families ask of a rug: survive children, dogs, and the occasional glass of red without complaint. The pile height is 15mm — substantial enough to feel luxurious without crossing into shaggy territory. The result is a rug that feels considered without crossing into precious territory.
Which size?
For sizing, the short version is: front legs of the sofa should sit on the rug. For the long version, see our Rug Size Guide.
If you've been waiting for the rug that just feels right, this is one we'd line up first.
Questions we get asked
Does this rug ship rolled or folded?
Rolled. We ship every rug in our range rolled and wrapped — folding can leave a crease in the pile that takes a few weeks to settle out, so we avoid it.
Will this rug shed?
No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.
Will the pattern repeat be obvious?
Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.
How do I get rid of a stain?
Blot — never rub. Cool water and a small amount of mild detergent on a clean cloth handles most spills. Work from the outside of the stain in. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
Is the back of the rug latex-coated?
The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.
