Size

The combination of a refined illuminating frieze yarn and a lush microset polypropylene yarn adds both depth and richness to this rug, a subtle outline of a sleeping polar blended in warm natural tones. available in 2 sizes this rug can be just the thing to add a touch of warmth to any kids space.

Polar Bear Snow sits firmly in the considered, wear-it-for-years half of our range.

How it's made

In one line: Belgian-made with European precision. Belgium's Wilton looms are some of the most exacting in the world — the colour separation and pattern definition you get from them is hard to match elsewhere. Density and twist are what separate a good polypropylene rug from a poor one — both have been done properly here. At 20mm, this sits squarely in plush-shaggy territory — soft on bare feet, deep enough to sink your toes into. Construction-wise, this is built to look the same six months in as the day it arrived.

How it handles real life

In practice, we have sold these into nurseries, playrooms, and bedrooms shared by siblings. They handle every version of childhood we have seen. Care for this one as you would a hard floor — sweep or vacuum regularly and address spills when they happen. The fibre does the rest. It tolerates open doors, indoor-outdoor traffic, and the dust that an Australian summer drags in across a polished concrete floor.

On colour

The colour story matters here. Cream-based rugs sit comfortably in almost any palette — they brighten without bleaching the room out. The pattern reads as quietly contemporary rather than fashionable — the kind of design that doesn't date in a hurry. Layered with a leather chair, a brass floor lamp, and a stack of books, the rug holds its end of the conversation without forcing it.

On sizing

If this is going under a dining table, measure the table and add at least 60cm on each side so the chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. The Rug Size Guide walks through the details.

If the rest of your room is settled, Polar Bear Snow will not unsettle it.

FAQs

Does this rug ship rolled or folded?

Rolled. We ship every rug in our range rolled and wrapped — folding can leave a crease in the pile that takes a few weeks to settle out, so we avoid it.

Will the pattern repeat be obvious?

Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.

Will this rug shed?

No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.

Can I put a rug pad underneath?

Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.

Is the colour the same on both sides?

No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.
