Introducing August, our latest rug collection that combines the charm of hand-made boho rugs with the convenience of modern manufacturing. These machine-made rugs in Turkey mimic the hand-made look of boho rugs, featuring a unique texture that is both trendy and timeless.

What sells August Natural is not a marketing line — it is how it sits in a room.

Colour and pattern

Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. Beige has come a long way from the 1990s — modern beige rugs carry a warm, taupe-leaning tone that reads sophisticated rather than dated. The motif is restrained enough to sit under almost any furniture without competing. We have laid this in rooms with bold artwork above and minimal furniture, and it sits comfortably in both.

How it's made

The short version: Turkish-made. We've worked with Turkish mills for decades — the country's heritage in rugs runs deep, and the power-loom programmes are some of the most consistent in the world. Polypropylene is a thermoplastic, which means stains do not bond to the fibre the way they would with a natural staple. The result is a rug that feels considered without crossing into precious territory.

Sizing

If this is going under a dining table, measure the table and add at least 60cm on each side so the chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. The Rug Size Guide walks through the details.

Day-to-day

This style sits well over white-washed timber, particularly when the rest of the room runs to pale grey walls. A handheld vacuum and a damp cloth handle ninety percent of what you will need to do to keep this rug looking right. It tolerates open doors, indoor-outdoor traffic, and the dust that an Australian summer drags in across a polished concrete floor.

If your brief is durable, quiet, and warmly familiar, this is the rug we'd put forward.

Common questions

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.

How thick is the rug overall?

The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.

Can I put a rug pad underneath?

Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.

Will this rug shed?

No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.

Will it sit flat once unrolled?

Almost always within 24–48 hours. If you see any waves from the rolled packaging, lay the rug pile-up in the room and let it relax overnight — gravity does the rest. For stubborn corners, rolling the rug briefly in the opposite direction usually does it.
