Introducing August, our latest rug collection that combines the charm of hand-made boho rugs with the convenience of modern manufacturing. These machine-made rugs in Turkey mimic the hand-made look of boho rugs, featuring a unique texture that is both trendy and timeless.

The brief for August Pink is straightforward — a rug that earns its place and stays out of the way.

How it looks

Worth a moment on the look of it. Soft pink has come back as a serious neutral over the last few years — it reads warm and feminine without going saccharine. Up close you can see how the dye sits in the fibre — saturated, even, with none of the patchiness of a cheaper construction. Layered with a leather chair, a brass floor lamp, and a stack of books, the rug holds its end of the conversation without forcing it.

Construction

At a glance: Anatolian-woven. Turkey has been the centre of rug-making for centuries, and the power-loom tradition that came out of Anatolia in the late 20th century is what makes a piece like this possible at a sensible price. If a rug is going to sit in a room where life actually happens, polypropylene is the fibre we trust to handle it. Selvedges are finished cleanly so the rug sits flush against itself without curling at the edges.

How it handles real life

In a real Australian room, it is a comfortable fit in a Melbourne apartment that needs a piece to anchor a polished concrete floor — exactly the kind of space most of our customers are decorating. For everyday care, vacuum weekly and spot-clean spills as they happen — a damp cloth and a small amount of mild detergent handles almost anything. The pile does not snag, which matters if you have a clawed animal in the house. Vacuum once a week, spot-treat the inevitable accidents, and the rug does not ask for anything else.

Sizing

We carry this in a few sizes — a 160x230cm sits well under a coffee table, a 200x290cm anchors a standard three-piece lounge, and the 240x330cm extends well past a queen bed. See our Rug Size Guide for the full layout breakdown.

August Pink is one of the easier yeses in our range — solidly made, calmly priced, no surprises.

Questions we get asked

Will this rug shed?

No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.

Can I return it if it isn't right?

Yes — we offer a clear returns window because we know a rug needs to be seen in the actual room. The details are on our returns page, and we'll talk you through it if anything is unclear.

Does it work with a robot vacuum?

Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.

Is the colour the same on both sides?

No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.

Will the pattern repeat be obvious?

Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.
