Sleek and stunning, the Mascot range of rugs, in cool, smokey shades of grey and white, will balance the decor in any room. Easy to clean, while opulent, these shaggy rugs are a perfect blend for today’s demanding lifestyle. Beautifully textured, with a volumetric pile, and crafted to feature a subtle sheen, Mascot rugs are an attractive option for living rooms and entrances. Artful neutral coloring and unobtrusive geometric styling, make this rug an intelligent choice for a contemporary, fast-living home.

Some rugs need to be sold; Cobi Light Grey sells itself once you see it in person.

On colour

Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. A grey-toned rug is the easiest way to anchor a room without committing to a strong palette. There is enough variation in the weave to keep the rug from reading flat — it has depth without busyness. Up close, you can see how the colour shifts slightly across the pile — that subtle variation is what stops the surface looking printed.

What's under the surface

Woven in Turkey. Turkey has been the centre of rug-making for centuries, and the power-loom tradition that came out of Anatolia in the late 20th century is what makes a piece like this possible at a sensible price. Polypropylene is the workhorse fibre of modern rugs — it doesn't absorb spills, it doesn't hold dust, and it bounces back from foot traffic faster than wool. With a 60mm pile, this is deep-shag territory — it will feel like sand between your toes, in the best way. The yarn count is dense enough that the pattern reads sharply without losing softness underfoot.

On sizing

If this is going under a dining table, measure the table and add at least 60cm on each side so the chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. The Rug Size Guide walks through the details.

Living with it

Day to day, it is a comfortable fit in a Tweed Heads beach house where the climate calls for something that handles humidity without complaint — exactly the kind of space most of our customers are decorating. For wine, blood, or any pigmented spill, blot quickly with cold water and a mild detergent — the colour will lift before it has time to bond. We have laid one of these under our own dining table for several years; it still reads as new.

Order Cobi Light Grey if the room is asking for a quiet, well-made foundation rather than a feature piece.

Questions we get asked

Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?

There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.

Does it work with a robot vacuum?

Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.

How do I get rid of a stain?

Blot — never rub. Cool water and a small amount of mild detergent on a clean cloth handles most spills. Work from the outside of the stain in. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.

Does this rug ship rolled or folded?

Rolled. We ship every rug in our range rolled and wrapped — folding can leave a crease in the pile that takes a few weeks to settle out, so we avoid it.

Will this rug shed?

No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.
