The Calypso range is available in grey, Grey, honey, silver and cream; colours that blend rather than clash with any setting. Marvelously hardwearing and aesthetically attractive, this rug synthesizes in perfect fusion with any decor. Fabulous for living rooms, bedrooms or entrance halls, this floor piece offers a treasure of possibilities for your home.

We rate Calypso Silver Grey as a sound, hard-wearing choice for any room that needs an unfussy base.

Construction

In one line: Belgian-woven. Belgian mills are the benchmark for machine-made design definition. The look is crisper than what you'd get from most other origins. Heat-set polypropylene yarns hold their twist for years — that is what stops the pile flattening under a coffee table or sofa leg. This is a 15mm pile — soft, considered, with enough density to spring back from foot traffic without flattening. Density is what matters with a piece like this — it is what gives the rug its longevity.

On the design

The colour story matters here. Cream is the warmest of the neutrals — it lifts a room without going stark white, and it works beautifully with timber, brass, and linen. Design-wise, the surface is restrained enough to layer with strong artwork or strong upholstery without competing. It plays nicely with a low timber coffee table, a linen sofa, and the kind of considered clutter most lived-in rooms accumulate.

Living with it

In a typical Australian living room — Tasmanian oak floorboards, raw plaster finishes — it sits comfortably without competing for attention. Care for this one as you would a hard floor — sweep or vacuum regularly and address spills when they happen. The fibre does the rest. We sell more of this style to families with school-age children than to any other group, which says something about how it lives.

Picking the right size

A 200x290cm covers most three-seater living rooms; a 240x330cm suits the larger open-plan layouts that have become common in new Australian builds. Our Rug Size Guide shows you which fits.

Calypso Silver Grey is for you if your brief is calm, considered, and easy to live with.

Questions we get asked

How thick is the rug overall?

The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.

Will the pattern repeat be obvious?

Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.

Do you offer samples?

We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.

Will it cope with kids and pets?

Yes, comfortably. Synthetic pile is stain-resistant, doesn't snag under claws, and lifts spills cleanly. It's the construction we recommend most to growing families.

Can I steam clean this rug?

Light steam is fine for synthetic pile. Avoid prolonged direct heat in one spot, and let the rug dry completely before walking on it.
