Experience the sumptuous luxury of sinking into the soft, silky fibres of our Lido Collection of rugs. Constructed from a fine blend of microfiber polyester and super soft microset, polypropylene yarn, these deep-pile woven floor-coverings are easy on the eye, easy to clean and ultra hard-wearing. With their Berber (North African) influenced, geometric patterns and solid colouring, they’ll always be the perfect foil for any setting, either contemporary or traditional. Additionally, these rugs are fibre -fast, meaning that they’re non-static and never shed their pile. Deflecting a rich, lustrous sheen, Scandanavianrugs, are reminiscent of of the shimmer radiating from a pool of sunlit water. Spectacular with any decor, these ambient rugs are bound to be part of your home for many years to come.

Walk into a finished room with Lido Natural Cream Shaggy laid in it and the rug is the last thing you notice, in the best possible way.

Built and finished

The short version: Belgian-made with European precision. Belgian weaving has a reputation for precision, and you can see it in the way the pattern sits on the surface of this rug. Lightweight, water-resistant, mould-resistant, and quietly comfortable underfoot — polypropylene is the rug fibre that does the most with the least. The 17mm pile gives this rug genuine softness underfoot — particularly good for a bedroom or a sitting room you actually want to sit on the floor in. Look at the underside and you can see how dense the weave actually is — it is the part of the rug that does the real work.

On colour

Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. Cream-based rugs sit comfortably in almost any palette — they brighten without bleaching the room out. The pattern reads as quietly contemporary rather than fashionable — the kind of design that doesn't date in a hurry. We have laid this in rooms with bold artwork above and minimal furniture, and it sits comfortably in both.

Practical notes

In practice, it is a comfortable fit in newer Australian builds with pale oak floorboards and a lot of glazing — exactly the kind of space most of our customers are decorating. A handheld vacuum and a damp cloth handle ninety percent of what you will need to do to keep this rug looking right. Lay it once and forget it is there. That is the right frame of mind for a piece like this.

Sizing

For sizing, the short version is: front legs of the sofa should sit on the rug. For the long version, see our Rug Size Guide.

If you are renovating and want one piece that won't fight the rest of your choices, this is it.

Common questions

How thick is the rug overall?

The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.

Can I cut the rug to size?

We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.

Do you offer samples?

We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.

Can I put a rug pad underneath?

Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.
