Experience the sumptuous luxury of sinking into the soft, silky fibres of our Scandanavian Collection of rugs. Constructed from a fine blend of microfiber polyester and super soft microset, polypropylene yarn, these deep-pile woven floor-coverings are easy on the eye, easy to clean and ultra hard-wearing. With their Berber (North African) influenced, geometric patterns and solid colouring, they’ll always be the perfect foil for any setting, either contemporary or traditional. Additionally, these rugs are fibre -fast, meaning that they’re non-static and never shed their pile. Deflecting a rich, lustrous sheen, Scandanavian rugs, are reminiscent of of the shimmer radiating from a pool of sunlit water. Spectacular with any decor, these ambient rugs are bound to be part of your home for many years to come.
We added Scandanavian Grey to the range for one reason: it does the basics extremely well.
Colour and pattern
Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. Grey rugs sit quietly in a room and let the rest of the space do the talking — it's why they outsell almost everything else we carry. Visually, the rug is doing the work of a quiet anchor — not a pattern statement, not a punctuation mark, simply a calm plane underfoot. It is the kind of surface that lets the rest of your room read clearly without competing.
What's under the surface
Underneath the look, made in Belgium on Wilton looms. Belgium's Wilton looms are some of the most exacting in the world — the colour separation and pattern definition you get from them is hard to match elsewhere. Polypropylene is a thermoplastic, which means stains do not bond to the fibre the way they would with a natural staple. This is a 17mm pile — soft, considered, with enough density to spring back from foot traffic without flattening. The yarn count is dense enough that the pattern reads sharply without losing softness underfoot.
On sizing
Have a tape measure handy before you commit — our Rug Size Guide has the layouts most of our customers end up choosing.
Living with it
It earns its keep in any room that has limestone tiles as a starting point. Wipe spills with a damp cloth, vacuum on a regular setting, and rotate the rug end-to-end once a year. Nothing else is required. We have customers who have lived with the same rug for the better part of a decade. It still looks intentional.
Once Scandanavian Grey is laid, the room you've been trying to finish usually finishes itself.
Questions we get asked
Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?
There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.
Is the back of the rug latex-coated?
The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.
How do I get rid of a stain?
Blot — never rub. Cool water and a small amount of mild detergent on a clean cloth handles most spills. Work from the outside of the stain in. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
Do you offer samples?
We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.
Will the pattern repeat be obvious?
Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.
