Size

The Himalaya Vintage rug takes the warmth and texture of a jute flatweave and gives it the durability that only polypropylene can provide. Woven in soft beige tones with a subtle diamond lattice pattern, it brings a timeless, organic character to both indoor and outdoor spaces — the kind of rug that looks like it has always been there and somehow makes a room feel more complete for it.

Himalaya Vintage Indoor Outdoor is one of the rugs we recommend to customers who have already bought a wool piece elsewhere and want something more practical for a high-traffic room.

Living with it

The construction is UV-stable and the fibre does not absorb water — hose it down, let it dry in the sun, and it is back in service. Spot-clean with mild detergent and cool water. Avoid harsh chemicals — they're not needed and can damage the dye. It holds its shape under a heavy sofa and shrugs off the small dents that lighter constructions can't recover from.

On the design

What is happening at the surface is straightforward. We sell more cream rugs than any other colour. They suit the way most Australians live: warm-neutral walls, pale timbers, lots of natural light. Up close you can see how the dye sits in the fibre — saturated, even, with none of the patchiness of a cheaper construction. Layered over a hard floor, it gives a room the visual weight it usually needs at floor level.

What's under the surface

Made in Egypt. Egypt has become the place to produce outdoor-grade flatweaves at scale, and the durability of the construction is genuinely impressive. If a rug is going to sit in a room where life actually happens, polypropylene is the fibre we trust to handle it. Selvedges are finished cleanly so the rug sits flush against itself without curling at the edges.

Sizing

A 200x290cm covers most three-seater living rooms; a 240x330cm suits the larger open-plan layouts that have become common in new Australian builds. Our Rug Size Guide shows you which fits.

Choose Himalaya Vintage Indoor Outdoor if you want the result more than you want the story.

Things customers ask

Do you offer samples?

We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.

Can I cut the rug to size?

We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.

Will it cope with kids and pets?

Yes, comfortably. Synthetic pile is stain-resistant, doesn't snag under claws, and lifts spills cleanly. It's the construction we recommend most to growing families.

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.

Will the rug fade in direct sun?

The dye on this construction is specifically UV-stabilised for outdoor use — it holds up to direct Australian sun in a way that an indoor rug never could.
