Harmony Wheat is a versatile flatweave rug designed for both indoor and outdoor living. Its durable, hard-wearing construction makes it perfect for high-traffic areas, while the flat pile ensures it’s easy to clean and maintain, simply hose it down for a fresh look.
The brief for Harmony Wheat Gold Indoor Outdoor is straightforward — a rug that earns its place and stays out of the way.
About the make
Engineered and woven in Egypt. Egyptian-made indoor/outdoor rugs are engineered to sit in direct sun and weather without losing their colour. We sell a lot of polypropylene because it does the one thing most Australian families ask of a rug: survive children, dogs, and the occasional glass of red without complaint. At 6mm, this is a low, dense flatweave — easy to vacuum, easy to slide chairs across, and a sensible pick for a dining room. Build quality holds up to close inspection — there are no shortcuts in the weave or the finish.
On colour
The colour story sits on the warm side of neutral, which makes it easy to layer with timber and linen. Up close you can see how the dye sits in the fibre — saturated, even, with none of the patchiness of a cheaper construction. We have laid this in rooms with bold artwork above and minimal furniture, and it sits comfortably in both.
Living with it
The construction is UV-stable and the fibre does not absorb water — hose it down, let it dry in the sun, and it is back in service. For everyday care, vacuum weekly and spot-clean spills as they happen — a damp cloth and a small amount of mild detergent handles almost anything. Build the room around it. It will hold the centre and stay quiet while the rest of the space changes around it.
On sizing
We carry this in a few sizes — a 160x230cm sits well under a coffee table, a 200x290cm anchors a standard three-piece lounge, and the 240x330cm extends well past a queen bed. See our Rug Size Guide for the full layout breakdown.
This is the kind of rug that makes the rest of your decisions easier.
Things customers ask
Can I cut the rug to size?
We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.
How do I get rid of a stain?
Hose it down. If the spill is something serious, a mild detergent and a soft brush will get the rest, and the sun finishes the job.
Will this rug shed?
No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.
Can I use this with underfloor heating?
Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.
How thick is the rug overall?
The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.
