Customers describe Estella OK1E more often by how it feels in the room than by how it looks in a catalogue.

About the make

Flatwoven in Egypt. Egyptian-made indoor/outdoor rugs are engineered to sit in direct sun and weather without losing their colour. The yarn here is solution-dyed polypropylene — the colour goes through the fibre rather than sitting on it, so a fade only happens after years in direct sun. Build quality holds up to close inspection — there are no shortcuts in the weave or the finish.

On the design

The colour story matters here. Blue-toned rugs lift a room without dominating it. They pair especially well with brass, oak, and a lot of natural light. Tonally, the rug shifts subtly through the day — warmer in morning light, more grounded in the cooler hours of the afternoon. Photographs flatten the surface; in person, the weave reads with more dimension than any catalogue image can convey.

Living with it

Picture white-washed timber and limewashed walls — that is the kind of room this rug is at home in. For wine, blood, or any pigmented spill, blot quickly with cold water and a mild detergent — the colour will lift before it has time to bond. We have laid one of these under our own dining table for several years; it still reads as new.

Picking the right size

We carry this in a few sizes — a 160x230cm sits well under a coffee table, a 200x290cm anchors a standard three-piece lounge, and the 240x330cm extends well past a queen bed. See our Rug Size Guide for the full layout breakdown.

We back this one for the buyer who would rather move on with the rest of the renovation than keep deliberating.

FAQs

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.

Does it work with a robot vacuum?

Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.

Does this rug ship rolled or folded?

Rolled. We ship every rug in our range rolled and wrapped — folding can leave a crease in the pile that takes a few weeks to settle out, so we avoid it.

Can I steam clean this rug?

Light steam is fine for synthetic pile. Avoid prolonged direct heat in one spot, and let the rug dry completely before walking on it.

Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?

There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.
