The Charlotte Collection features a neutral palette of rugs exemplified by its high and low shrunken yarn construction. Made from 100% polypropylene, these Turkish-made rugs are hard-wearing and easy to clean. Perfect for those seeking non-distinct patterns with a natural collection of colors, these rugs add a subtle touch of elegance to any space.

There is a reason Ripple Radiance Contemporary Patterned sits in our current range — it does the quiet work that a good rug should.

Built and finished

In one line: Woven in Turkey. The Turkish weaving industry has refined power-loom production to a point where the result is genuinely close to the look of a traditionally woven rug. We have lived with polypropylene rugs in our own homes for years. They survive children, vacuum cleaners, and the occasional small disaster without losing their shape. At 11mm, this is a sensible everyday pile — substantial without being shaggy, easy to keep clean. Construction-wise, this is built to look the same six months in as the day it arrived.

How it handles real life

In a typical Australian living room — white-washed timber, raw plaster finishes — it sits comfortably without competing for attention. Vacuum on a medium setting weekly, and once a month go over the rug end-to-end with the suction set higher to lift trapped dust from the base. Rug pad underneath on a hard floor — that is the one accessory we would not skip.

About the look

What is happening at the surface is straightforward. We recommend charcoal when a room has too much pale flooring and not enough visual weight at floor level. Stand a metre back and the pattern recedes into texture — that quality is why the rug reads calm rather than busy. In strong afternoon light the tones warm noticeably — in cooler southern light, the palette reads slightly more grounded.

Picking the right size

If you are between sizes, we almost always recommend sizing up. Our Rug Size Guide has the room-by-room measurements we use ourselves.

Add Ripple Radiance Contemporary Patterned to a room that has good bones and let it sit quietly underneath everything else.

Things customers ask

Will this rug shed?

No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.

Does it work with a robot vacuum?

Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.

Does this rug ship rolled or folded?

Rolled. We ship every rug in our range rolled and wrapped — folding can leave a crease in the pile that takes a few weeks to settle out, so we avoid it.

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.

How do I get rid of a stain?

Blot — never rub. Cool water and a small amount of mild detergent on a clean cloth handles most spills. Work from the outside of the stain in. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
