The Charlotte Collection features a neutral palette of rugs exemplified by its high and low shrunken yarn construction. Made from 100% polypropylene, these Turkish-made rugs are hard-wearing and easy to clean. Perfect for those seeking non-distinct patterns with a natural collection of colors, these rugs add a subtle touch of elegance to any space.
There is a reason Quetzal Craft Runner sits in our current range — it does the quiet work that a good rug should.
About the look
Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. Charcoal grounds a room in a way that pale neutrals never quite do — it makes timber furniture look richer and lets pale walls breathe. The pattern reads as quietly contemporary rather than fashionable — the kind of design that doesn't date in a hurry. In strong afternoon light the tones warm noticeably — in cooler southern light, the palette reads slightly more grounded.
Construction
Underneath the look, produced in Turkey. The Turkish weaving industry has refined power-loom production to a point where the result is genuinely close to the look of a traditionally woven rug. The yarn here is solution-dyed polypropylene — the colour goes through the fibre rather than sitting on it, so a fade only happens after years in direct sun. At 11mm, this is a sensible everyday pile — substantial without being shaggy, easy to keep clean. Look at the underside and you can see how dense the weave actually is — it is the part of the rug that does the real work.
Picking the right size
Runners are about scale, not just length — leave at least 10cm of floor visible on each side of the runner so the hallway doesn't feel boxed in. Our Rug Size Guide has the proportions we recommend.
Practical notes
In practice, picture dark hardwood floors and putty-painted walls — that is the kind of room this rug is at home in. If a spill dries before you get to it, dampen the area with cool water, work the cloth from the outside in, and the dried residue lifts back out. We have laid one of these under our own dining table for several years; it still reads as new.
If you want the room to look finished from the day the rug arrives, Quetzal Craft Runner delivers on that.
Things customers ask
Will this rug shed?
No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.
Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?
There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.
Will it sit flat once unrolled?
Almost always within 24–48 hours. If you see any waves from the rolled packaging, lay the rug pile-up in the room and let it relax overnight — gravity does the rest. For stubborn corners, rolling the rug briefly in the opposite direction usually does it.
Will the colour look the same as the website photo?
Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.
Do you offer samples?
We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.
