Introducing the sustainable and innovative Carmel rug collection, certified by QA-CER. Each rug, measuring 160x230cm, is made from 92 recycled plastic bottles. It's the perfect choice for those looking for an eco-friendly and durable area rug that's both affordable and stylish. The high-quality yarn is UV-stabilized, non-shedding, and hard-wearing, making it easy to maintain and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. With a flat woven construction, these rugs are lightweight and foldable, making them ideal for compact storage in any space. The collection features a wide range of trendy, bicolored designs that will enhance any indoor or outdoor living space.
What our family likes about Carmel Beige White is the lack of theatre — it is what it looks like, and it does what it should.
How it looks
Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. Beige is the most forgiving floor colour we carry — it hides dust, dog hair, and the small disasters of daily life better than almost any other shade. There is enough variation in the weave to keep the rug from reading flat — it has depth without busyness. It is the kind of surface that lets the rest of your room read clearly without competing.
What's under the surface
The short version: Woven in Belgium. Belgium's Wilton looms are some of the most exacting in the world — the colour separation and pattern definition you get from them is hard to match elsewhere. Synthetic fibre means hypoallergenic in the most useful sense — no lanolin, no animal dander, no shedding to speak of. A 6mm pile keeps this piece flat enough for a dining room or hallway where dragged chairs would chew up a deeper weave. The construction is built to take the daily compression of foot traffic without flattening through the centre.
Which size?
Most of our customers go a size larger than their first instinct. Our Rug Size Guide explains why.
Living with it
Day to day, the construction is UV-stable and the fibre does not absorb water — hose it down, let it dry in the sun, and it is back in service. Care for this one as you would a hard floor — sweep or vacuum regularly and address spills when they happen. The fibre does the rest. It tolerates open doors, indoor-outdoor traffic, and the dust that an Australian summer drags in across a polished concrete floor.
We sell a lot of Carmel Beige White, and the reason is straightforward — it does the work without making a fuss.
Questions we get asked
Can I return it if it isn't right?
Yes — we offer a clear returns window because we know a rug needs to be seen in the actual room. The details are on our returns page, and we'll talk you through it if anything is unclear.
How thick is the rug overall?
The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.
Can I steam clean this rug?
Yes, but a hose is usually faster and just as effective.
Do you offer samples?
We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.
Will the colour look the same as the website photo?
Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.
