Size

The Vienna range, machine-made in Turkey, showcases contemporary designs with versatile, non-distinctive patterns and neutral tones, effortlessly compatible with various living spaces. Its 8-millimeter polypropylene pile ensures easy cleaning, making it perfect for high-traffic areas.

Vienna Cream Dark Blue is the kind of rug that disappears into a room in the best possible sense.

On colour

Worth a moment on the look of it. There's a reason grey has been the default neutral of the last decade — it forgives, it cools, and it lets coloured furniture and art read clearly above it. Tonally, the rug shifts subtly through the day — warmer in morning light, more grounded in the cooler hours of the afternoon. The design is balanced enough to centre a coffee table and quiet enough to let a strong artwork dominate above it.

What's under the surface

Underneath the look, Turkish-made. Turkey has been the centre of rug-making for centuries, and the power-loom tradition that came out of Anatolia in the late 20th century is what makes a piece like this possible at a sensible price. The yarn here is solution-dyed polypropylene — the colour goes through the fibre rather than sitting on it, so a fade only happens after years in direct sun. At 21mm, this sits squarely in plush-shaggy territory — soft on bare feet, deep enough to sink your toes into. Edges are bound and finished cleanly so they sit flat and stay flat.

Picking the right size

If this is going under a dining table, measure the table and add at least 60cm on each side so the chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. The Rug Size Guide walks through the details.

Practical notes

It earns its keep in any room that has Tasmanian oak floorboards as a starting point. If a spill dries before you get to it, dampen the area with cool water, work the cloth from the outside in, and the dried residue lifts back out. Rolling vacuum, ride-on toys, the cat — none of it bothers the surface in any way you will notice.

Vienna Cream Dark Blue ends up in the kind of homes where pieces are kept rather than swapped — and that is the highest compliment a rug can earn.

Questions we get asked

How thick is the rug overall?

The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.

Does it work with a robot vacuum?

Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.

Will the colour look the same as the website photo?

Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.

Do you offer samples?

We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.

Is the colour the same on both sides?

No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.
