The Colorado rug is a machine-made Turkish rug that boasts a natural, jute-like appearance while also offering superior durability and ease of maintenance. Unlike traditional jute rugs, the Colorado rug is designed to be vacuumed easily and cleaned without difficulty, minimizing shedding and maintaining a fresh, polished look. Additionally, this rug is resistant to yellowing when exposed to moisture, making it a great choice for high-traffic or outdoor areas. If you're looking for a rug that brings the natural aesthetic of jute with less maintenance, the Colorado rug is an ideal option.

On the design
Worth a moment on the look of it. Beige has come a long way from the 1990s — modern beige rugs carry a warm, taupe-leaning tone that reads sophisticated rather than dated. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so it has real depth in the surface. From the kitchen looking through to the lounge, the rug reads as a single grounding plane rather than a competing pattern.
About the make
Underneath the look, from Turkey's long power-loom tradition. We've worked with Turkish mills for decades — the country's heritage in rugs runs deep, and the power-loom programmes are some of the most consistent in the world. Polypropylene does not hold odour the way wool can, which matters in a home with pets or open-plan cooking. The 10mm pile sits in the sweet spot for everyday living — soft enough to feel good underfoot, short enough that the vacuum gets right to the base. Build quality holds up to close inspection — there are no shortcuts in the weave or the finish.
Sizing
For hallways and galley kitchens, the 80x300cm length we run here is the most commonly bought — our Rug Size Guide walks through how to pick the right length for your space.
Day-to-day
In practice, the construction is UV-stable and the fibre does not absorb water — hose it down, let it dry in the sun, and it is back in service. Care for this one as you would a hard floor — sweep or vacuum regularly and address spills when they happen. The fibre does the rest. Vacuum once a week, spot-treat the inevitable accidents, and the rug does not ask for anything else.
Choose Colorado Runner Natural if you want the result more than you want the story.
Common questions
How thick is the rug overall?
The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.
How do I get rid of a stain?
Hose it down. If the spill is something serious, a mild detergent and a soft brush will get the rest, and the sun finishes the job.
Can I put a rug pad underneath?
Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.
Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?
There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.
Will the rug fade in direct sun?
The dye on this construction is specifically UV-stabilised for outdoor use — it holds up to direct Australian sun in a way that an indoor rug never could.
