The Colorado rug is a machine-made Turkish rug that boasts a natural, jute-like appearance while also offering superior durability and ease of maintenance. Unlike traditional jute rugs, the Colorado rug is designed to be vacuumed easily and cleaned without difficulty, minimizing shedding and maintaining a fresh, polished look. Additionally, this rug is resistant to yellowing when exposed to moisture, making it a great choice for high-traffic or outdoor areas. If you're looking for a rug that brings the natural aesthetic of jute with less maintenance, the Colorado rug is an ideal option.
Our customers find Colorado Natural the way most people find a good rug — by elimination.
How it looks
The colour story matters here. Beige is the most forgiving floor colour we carry — it hides dust, dog hair, and the small disasters of daily life better than almost any other shade. There is depth to the surface — the weave changes height subtly across the pattern, which is what gives the rug its tactile quality. Walk past it daily and you stop noticing it consciously — which is the highest compliment a quiet rug can earn.
Construction
From Turkey's long power-loom tradition. Turkey remains the place where heritage design and modern weaving meet most comfortably — you get the look of a hand-knotted rug at a fraction of the cost. Polypropylene does not hold odour the way wool can, which matters in a home with pets or open-plan cooking. A 10mm pile feels soft on bare feet but doesn't trap dust the way a longer pile can. Density is what matters with a piece like this — it is what gives the rug its longevity.
Day-to-day
In practice, the construction is UV-stable and the fibre does not absorb water — hose it down, let it dry in the sun, and it is back in service. Wipe spills with a damp cloth, vacuum on a regular setting, and rotate the rug end-to-end once a year. Nothing else is required. Build the room around it. It will hold the centre and stay quiet while the rest of the space changes around it.
Sizing
For sizing, the short version is: front legs of the sofa should sit on the rug. For the long version, see our Rug Size Guide.
If you want the room to look finished from the day the rug arrives, Colorado Natural delivers on that.
Questions we get asked
Can I use this with underfloor heating?
Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.
Do you offer samples?
We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.
Will this rug shed?
No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.
Will the pattern repeat be obvious?
Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.
Will it sit flat once unrolled?
Almost always within 24–48 hours. If you see any waves from the rolled packaging, lay the rug pile-up in the room and let it relax overnight — gravity does the rest. For stubborn corners, rolling the rug briefly in the opposite direction usually does it.
