The Novaro Luxor brings an ornate traditional design language to a living room or formal dining space with the confidence of a truly decorative piece — and the practicality of machine washable construction. The richly detailed pattern, traditional warm tones, and layered border design make it a rug that anchors a room and holds its visual weight across large floor areas.

Honest about its construction, calm in its palette — Novaro Luxor Traditional is straightforward to live with.

On colour

Worth a moment on the look of it. There's a reason grey has been the default neutral of the last decade — it forgives, it cools, and it lets coloured furniture and art read clearly above it. The motif is restrained enough to sit under almost any furniture without competing. Photographs flatten the surface; in person, the weave reads with more dimension than any catalogue image can convey.

Built and finished

The short version: From Turkey's long power-loom tradition. We've worked with Turkish mills for decades — the country's heritage in rugs runs deep, and the power-loom programmes are some of the most consistent in the world. Polyester pile carries a soft, slightly silken hand-feel — it's a step up in plushness from polypropylene without losing the easy-care benefit. Run your hand across the surface and the pile feels even from corner to corner — that consistency is what separates a well-made rug from a budget one.

How it handles real life

In practice, it pairs especially well with Tasmanian oak floorboards and raw plaster finishes. For shaggy polyester piles, vacuum on a higher setting (or with the beater bar off) and shake the rug out periodically. Vacuum once a week, spot-treat the inevitable accidents, and the rug does not ask for anything else.

Picking the right size

Most of our customers go a size larger than their first instinct. Our Rug Size Guide explains why.

If you are renovating and want one piece that won't fight the rest of your choices, this is it.

FAQs

Can I return it if it isn't right?

Yes — we offer a clear returns window because we know a rug needs to be seen in the actual room. The details are on our returns page, and we'll talk you through it if anything is unclear.

Is the colour the same on both sides?

No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.

How thick is the rug overall?

The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.

Will this rug shed?

No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.

Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?

There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.
