There is something inherently inviting about the Novaro Casablanca — the warm tones, the Moroccan-inspired detailing, the kind of pattern that makes a living room feel like it has decades of warmth already baked into it. The machine washable construction removes the usual anxiety of having a beautiful traditional rug in an active family home.
Spend a minute with Novaro Casablanca Traditional and you start to understand why we kept it through the last range review.
How it looks
The colour story matters here. True white is a brave choice in a family home, but in the right room — a master bedroom, a low-traffic formal living space — nothing else has quite the same lift. Up close, the construction details emerge; from across the room, the rug reads as a single restrained colour field. In strong afternoon light the tones warm noticeably — in cooler southern light, the palette reads slightly more grounded.
Construction
Anatolian-woven. Turkey remains the place where heritage design and modern weaving meet most comfortably — you get the look of a hand-knotted rug at a fraction of the cost. Polyester pile carries a soft, slightly silken hand-feel — it's a step up in plushness from polypropylene without losing the easy-care benefit. Selvedges are finished cleanly so the rug sits flush against itself without curling at the edges.
Practical notes
In a real Australian room, it is a comfortable fit in a Sunshine Coast Hamptons-inspired build with white shaker kitchens and pale oak floors — exactly the kind of space most of our customers are decorating. Polyester takes well to spot-cleaning — a damp cloth, cool water, and mild detergent will handle most everyday spills. Rolling vacuum, ride-on toys, the cat — none of it bothers the surface in any way you will notice.
Which size?
If this is going under a dining table, measure the table and add at least 60cm on each side so the chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. The Rug Size Guide walks through the details.
If your existing furniture has earned its place, Novaro Casablanca Traditional will sit comfortably underneath it.
FAQs
Does it work with a robot vacuum?
Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.
Can I cut the rug to size?
We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.
Will the rug fade in direct sun?
Some fade is possible if a rug sits in direct, unfiltered sun day after day — that's true of any rug. The dyes used here are UV-stabilised and hold up well to the conditions in most Australian rooms.
Do you offer samples?
We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.
Can I put a rug pad underneath?
Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.
