Quiet sophistication is harder to achieve than dramatic impact — but the Eden Silk Touch Charcoal Cream runner manages it effortlessly. The refined palette, the silky sheen that catches light along the length of the runner, the plush pile underfoot — it's a hallway rug that elevates a space without announcing itself.

Eden Silk Touch Charcoal Cream Hallway Runner reads as a quiet, considered piece rather than a statement.

Colour and pattern

Worth a moment on the look of it. A grey-toned rug is the easiest way to anchor a room without committing to a strong palette. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so it has real depth in the surface. The design is balanced enough to centre a coffee table and quiet enough to let a strong artwork dominate above it.

Practical notes

In a typical Australian living room — Tasmanian oak floorboards, double-height living spaces with a lot of glazing — it sits comfortably without competing for attention. For shaggy polyester piles, vacuum on a higher setting (or with the beater bar off) and shake the rug out periodically. It tolerates open doors, indoor-outdoor traffic, and the dust that an Australian summer drags in across a polished concrete floor.

How it's made

The short version: Anatolian-woven. Turkey has been the centre of rug-making for centuries, and the power-loom tradition that came out of Anatolia in the late 20th century is what makes a piece like this possible at a sensible price. We like polyester for shaggies and luxe-pile pieces because it takes deep colour beautifully and stays soft over years of use. Density is what matters with a piece like this — it is what gives the rug its longevity.

On sizing

For hallways and galley kitchens, the 80x300cm length we run here is the most commonly bought — our Rug Size Guide walks through how to pick the right length for your space.

FAQs

How thick is the rug overall?

The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.

Will the rug fade in direct sun?

Some fade is possible if a rug sits in direct, unfiltered sun day after day — that's true of any rug. The dyes used here are UV-stabilised and hold up well to the conditions in most Australian rooms.

Will the colour look the same as the website photo?

Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.

Does this rug ship rolled or folded?

Rolled. We ship every rug in our range rolled and wrapped — folding can leave a crease in the pile that takes a few weeks to settle out, so we avoid it.
