How it's made
Underneath the look, Belgian Wilton-woven. Belgium's Wilton looms are some of the most exacting in the world — the colour separation and pattern definition you get from them is hard to match elsewhere. Polypropylene is the workhorse fibre of modern rugs — it doesn't absorb spills, it doesn't hold dust, and it bounces back from foot traffic faster than wool. The pile sits at 6mm, which is firmly in flatweave territory — dense, hard-wearing, and friendly to a vacuum. The back of the rug shows the construction clearly — close, even stitching, no slack spots, no thin patches.
Living with it
In practice, designed for patios, decks, and verandas. Leave it out year-round in most parts of Australia and it will hold its colour through the worst of the sun. Care for this one as you would a hard floor — sweep or vacuum regularly and address spills when they happen. The fibre does the rest. Lay it once and forget it is there. That is the right frame of mind for a piece like this.
On colour
Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. Cream is the warmest of the neutrals — it lifts a room without going stark white, and it works beautifully with timber, brass, and linen. Visually, the rug is doing the work of a quiet anchor — not a pattern statement, not a punctuation mark, simply a calm plane underfoot. From above, the surface has a quiet visual rhythm — close up, the construction details start to show.
Picking the right size
Most of our customers go a size larger than their first instinct. Our Rug Size Guide explains why.
This is a rug we recommend without hedging. It does what it should.
Questions we get asked
Is the colour the same on both sides?
No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.
Can I cut the rug to size?
We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.
Will the pattern repeat be obvious?
Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.
Will the colour look the same as the website photo?
Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.
Will it cope with kids and pets?
Yes, comfortably. Synthetic pile is stain-resistant, doesn't snag under claws, and lifts spills cleanly. It's the construction we recommend most to growing families.
