Tone-on-tone design is one of the most demanding things to execute well — and the Allure Diamond Frost achieves it beautifully. The raised cream diamond pattern against a cream ground creates a subtle but genuinely sophisticated effect: a rug that reads as a soft neutral from a distance and reveals its intricate craftsmanship up close. Handwoven in India from 100% wool, it is the kind of piece that rewards attention.
We chose Allure Diamond Frost Wool for the range because it covers a brief we get asked about constantly.
Built and finished
At a glance: Woven in India on traditional handlooms. Hand-weaving in India still happens at village scale, and the irregularities you'll feel in the pile are part of what makes a hand-loomed rug feel different from a machine-made one. Wool is the original rug fibre for a reason — it's naturally stain-resistant, it ages gracefully, and it has a warmth underfoot that no synthetic quite replicates. The 14mm pile gives this rug genuine softness underfoot — particularly good for a bedroom or a sitting room you actually want to sit on the floor in. Density is what matters with a piece like this — it is what gives the rug its longevity.
Practical notes
In practice, it pairs especially well with limestone tiles and limewashed walls. Wool wants gentler care than a synthetic. Vacuum without a beater bar where possible, blot spills immediately, and get any serious staining professionally cleaned rather than scrubbing. A good shake outdoors once a season and a regular vacuum is the whole maintenance story.
Colour and pattern
What is happening at the surface is straightforward. We sell more cream rugs than any other colour. They suit the way most Australians live: warm-neutral walls, pale timbers, lots of natural light. Stand a metre back and the pattern recedes into texture — that quality is why the rug reads calm rather than busy. Stand in the doorway and the rug barely registers; sit on the floor and the texture and pile depth come forward.
Which size?
For sizing, the short version is: front legs of the sofa should sit on the rug. For the long version, see our Rug Size Guide.
Allure Diamond Frost Wool is for you if your brief is calm, considered, and easy to live with.
Things customers ask
Do you offer samples?
We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.
Can I put a rug pad underneath?
Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.
Is the colour the same on both sides?
No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.
Will this rug shed?
A wool rug will shed lightly for the first three to six months. This is normal — wool fibres come loose at the end of the weave and clear with regular vacuuming. After the initial settle, shedding tails off significantly.
Is the back of the rug latex-coated?
The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.
