The Allure Cloud Silk takes a different approach to texture — a handmade braided weave that creates a beautiful, structured surface pattern with a softness that earns its name. The combination of wool and viscose fibres adds a gentle sheen to the creamy tones, and the artisan braiding creates a rug that has elegant visual character without being visually loud. It adds elegance to any space without being overpowering.
Plain-spoken about what it is and what it does — that's how we'd describe Allure Cloud Silk Wool.
How it looks
Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. We sell more cream rugs than any other colour. They suit the way most Australians live: warm-neutral walls, pale timbers, lots of natural light. Look at the surface in different light through the day and the rug picks up subtle variations the photo doesn't quite catch. Stand in the doorway and the rug barely registers; sit on the floor and the texture and pile depth come forward.
Day-to-day
In practice, among the rooms our customers describe to us, in a beachside Sorrento weekender that has to hold up to wet feet and sandy dogs is the most common context for a piece like this. A wool rug will shed lightly for the first few months — this is normal and slows quickly. Vacuum gently and let the rug settle in. A good shake outdoors once a season and a regular vacuum is the whole maintenance story.
About the make
At a glance: Made in India by skilled artisans. Hand-weaving in India still happens at village scale, and the irregularities you'll feel in the pile are part of what makes a hand-loomed rug feel different from a machine-made one. A wool rug behaves differently from a synthetic one. It sheds lightly for the first few months (that's normal), then settles into a piece you'll keep for decades. This is a 13mm pile — soft, considered, with enough density to spring back from foot traffic without flattening. The result is a rug that feels considered without crossing into precious territory.
Picking the right size
If this is going under a dining table, measure the table and add at least 60cm on each side so the chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. The Rug Size Guide walks through the details.
Allure Cloud Silk Wool is the rug our family would buy for our own home — and a few of us have.
Things customers ask
Does this rug ship rolled or folded?
Rolled. We ship every rug in our range rolled and wrapped — folding can leave a crease in the pile that takes a few weeks to settle out, so we avoid it.
Does it work with a robot vacuum?
Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.
Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?
There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.
Can I cut the rug to size?
We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.
Will the colour look the same as the website photo?
Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.
