Practical notes
In practice, this style sits well over pale oak floorboards, particularly when the rest of the room runs to limewashed walls. Avoid steam, avoid bleach, avoid solvent cleaners. Cool water and mild detergent is the protocol our family uses on every poly rug we own. We sell more of this style to families with school-age children than to any other group, which says something about how it lives.
About the look
Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. A grey-toned rug is the easiest way to anchor a room without committing to a strong palette. There is enough texture in the weave to keep the surface visually interesting without breaking the calm of the palette. From above, the surface has a quiet visual rhythm — close up, the construction details start to show.
Built and finished
The short version: Woven in Turkey. The Turkish weaving industry has refined power-loom production to a point where the result is genuinely close to the look of a traditionally woven rug. Polypropylene fibre handles wine, juice, and muddy paws with a damp cloth and a bit of patience — which is why we recommend it to most growing families. The pile height is 18mm — substantial enough to feel luxurious without crossing into shaggy territory. The construction is built to take the daily compression of foot traffic without flattening through the centre.

Questions we get asked
Can I use this with underfloor heating?
Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.
Does it work with a robot vacuum?
Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.
Will the rug fade in direct sun?
Some fade is possible if a rug sits in direct, unfiltered sun day after day — that's true of any rug. The dyes used here are UV-stabilised and hold up well to the conditions in most Australian rooms.
Can I return it if it isn't right?
Yes — we offer a clear returns window because we know a rug needs to be seen in the actual room. The details are on our returns page, and we'll talk you through it if anything is unclear.
How thick is the rug overall?
The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.
