Our new exclusive Dahlia range are both focused on Contemporary & Modern tailored homes. Design and colours are both muted and soft, so if you are looking to give a hint of texture or a dash of colour, this could be just the thing to bring everything together.
Dahlia Dark Grey Red Runner reads as a quiet, considered piece rather than a statement.
About the look
Grey rugs sit quietly in a room and let the rest of the space do the talking — it's why they outsell almost everything else we carry. The pattern is broken just enough at the surface to keep the visual rhythm interesting without ever feeling busy. We have laid this in rooms with bold artwork above and minimal furniture, and it sits comfortably in both.
Living with it
This style sits well over Tasmanian oak floorboards, particularly when the rest of the room runs to limewashed walls. Avoid steam, avoid bleach, avoid solvent cleaners. Cool water and mild detergent is the protocol our family uses on every poly rug we own. The pile does not snag, which matters if you have a clawed animal in the house. A good shake outdoors once a season and a regular vacuum is the whole maintenance story.
How it's made
The short version: Turkish-made. Turkey has been the centre of rug-making for centuries, and the power-loom tradition that came out of Anatolia in the late 20th century is what makes a piece like this possible at a sensible price. Synthetic fibre means hypoallergenic in the most useful sense — no lanolin, no animal dander, no shedding to speak of. The pile height is 18mm — substantial enough to feel luxurious without crossing into shaggy territory. Selvedges are finished cleanly so the rug sits flush against itself without curling at the edges.
On sizing
Runners are about scale, not just length — leave at least 10cm of floor visible on each side of the runner so the hallway doesn't feel boxed in. Our Rug Size Guide has the proportions we recommend.
We back this one for the buyer who would rather move on with the rest of the renovation than keep deliberating.
Questions we get asked
Is the back of the rug latex-coated?
The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.
How long does delivery take to my address?
Most metro orders arrive within 3–7 business days. Regional and remote addresses can take a little longer. We'll send tracking the moment your rug leaves the warehouse.
Can I use this with underfloor heating?
Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.
Can I put a rug pad underneath?
Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.
Will the rug fade in direct sun?
Some fade is possible if a rug sits in direct, unfiltered sun day after day — that's true of any rug. The dyes used here are UV-stabilised and hold up well to the conditions in most Australian rooms.
