What's under the surface
In one line: Produced in Turkey. The Turkish weaving industry has refined power-loom production to a point where the result is genuinely close to the look of a traditionally woven rug. Polypropylene does not hold odour the way wool can, which matters in a home with pets or open-plan cooking. At 18mm, the pile is on the plusher side of our range — it has the kind of give that makes a bedroom rug worth waking up to. Edges are bound and finished cleanly so they sit flat and stay flat.
Practical notes
We see this style most often in coastal rooms with linen sofas, rattan accents, and a lot of natural light. Synthetic pile means you can keep on top of it without specialist care — a regular vacuum and the occasional damp wipe is the entire maintenance routine. The pile does not snag, which matters if you have a clawed animal in the house. Vacuum once a week, spot-treat the inevitable accidents, and the rug does not ask for anything else.
How it looks
Worth a moment on the look of it. Grey rugs sit quietly in a room and let the rest of the space do the talking — it's why they outsell almost everything else we carry. Up close you can see how the dye sits in the fibre — saturated, even, with none of the patchiness of a cheaper construction. Layered over a hard floor, it gives a room the visual weight it usually needs at floor level.

Things customers ask
Will the colour look the same as the website photo?
Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.
Is the colour the same on both sides?
No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.
Will the rug fade in direct sun?
Some fade is possible if a rug sits in direct, unfiltered sun day after day — that's true of any rug. The dyes used here are UV-stabilised and hold up well to the conditions in most Australian rooms.
Can I cut the rug to size?
We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.
Will it sit flat once unrolled?
Almost always within 24–48 hours. If you see any waves from the rolled packaging, lay the rug pile-up in the room and let it relax overnight — gravity does the rest. For stubborn corners, rolling the rug briefly in the opposite direction usually does it.
