In a real Australian room, it is a comfortable fit in inner-city terraces with high ceilings and dark hardwood floors — exactly the kind of space most of our customers are decorating. Cleaning protocol is intentionally simple: blot fresh spills, vacuum weekly, get a professional clean every few years if it sees heavy use. It handles a Labrador, a Cavoodle, or two of each. We have heard variations on that brief many times. It tolerates open doors, indoor-outdoor traffic, and the dust that an Australian summer drags in across a polished concrete floor.
How it looks
Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. There's a reason grey has been the default neutral of the last decade — it forgives, it cools, and it lets coloured furniture and art read clearly above it. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so it has real depth in the surface. In strong afternoon light the tones warm noticeably — in cooler southern light, the palette reads slightly more grounded.
How it's made
Underneath the look, made in Turkey on power looms. The Turkish weaving industry has refined power-loom production to a point where the result is genuinely close to the look of a traditionally woven rug. Polypropylene does not hold odour the way wool can, which matters in a home with pets or open-plan cooking. This is a 18mm pile — soft, considered, with enough density to spring back from foot traffic without flattening. Selvedges are finished cleanly so the rug sits flush against itself without curling at the edges.

FAQs
Will the rug fade in direct sun?
Some fade is possible if a rug sits in direct, unfiltered sun day after day — that's true of any rug. The dyes used here are UV-stabilised and hold up well to the conditions in most Australian rooms.
Can I steam clean this rug?
Light steam is fine for synthetic pile. Avoid prolonged direct heat in one spot, and let the rug dry completely before walking on it.
Is the back of the rug latex-coated?
The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.
Can I cut the rug to size?
We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.
Can I use this with underfloor heating?
Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.
