Sleek and stunning, the Mascot range of rugs, in cool, smokey shades of grey and white, will balance the decor in any room. Easy to clean, while opulent, these shaggy rugs are a perfect blend for today’s demanding lifestyle. Beautifully textured, with a volumetric pile, and crafted to feature a subtle sheen, Mascot rugs are an attractive option for living rooms and entrances. Artful neutral coloring and unobtrusive geometric styling, make this rug an intelligent choice for a contemporary, fast-living home.

The reason Cobi White has stayed in our catalogue for several seasons is straightforward: it sells consistently and comes back rarely.

How it looks

True white is a brave choice in a family home, but in the right room — a master bedroom, a low-traffic formal living space — nothing else has quite the same lift. Stand a metre back and the pattern recedes into texture — that quality is why the rug reads calm rather than busy. We have laid this in rooms with bold artwork above and minimal furniture, and it sits comfortably in both.

What's under the surface

At a glance: From Turkey's long power-loom tradition. Turkey has been the centre of rug-making for centuries, and the power-loom tradition that came out of Anatolia in the late 20th century is what makes a piece like this possible at a sensible price. Polypropylene is a thermoplastic, which means stains do not bond to the fibre the way they would with a natural staple. With a 60mm pile, this is deep-shag territory — it will feel like sand between your toes, in the best way. Construction-wise, this is built to look the same six months in as the day it arrived.

Picking the right size

A 200x290cm covers most three-seater living rooms; a 240x330cm suits the larger open-plan layouts that have become common in new Australian builds. Our Rug Size Guide shows you which fits.

Living with it

In practice, this is the kind of piece that works under the dining table of a Newtown terrace where space is tight and the rug has to do double duty. For wine, blood, or any pigmented spill, blot quickly with cold water and a mild detergent — the colour will lift before it has time to bond. Pet hair vacuums out cleanly — the fibre does not hold dander the way a natural pile sometimes can. Lay it once and forget it is there. That is the right frame of mind for a piece like this.

We'd recommend Cobi White as a starting point for any room that needs a calm, well-made base.

FAQs

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.

Is the colour the same on both sides?

No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.

Can I cut the rug to size?

We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.

Does this rug ship rolled or folded?

Rolled. We ship every rug in our range rolled and wrapped — folding can leave a crease in the pile that takes a few weeks to settle out, so we avoid it.
