First impressions: Tango Cream reads as more expensive than it is. That is partly the colour, partly the density of the weave.

On the design

The colour story matters here. We sell more cream rugs than any other colour. They suit the way most Australians live: warm-neutral walls, pale timbers, lots of natural light. There is depth to the surface — the weave changes height subtly across the pattern, which is what gives the rug its tactile quality. Across a 200x290cm or 240x330cm, that calm reads as confidence rather than absence.

How it's made

At a glance: Belgian Wilton-woven. The Wilton tradition in Belgium produces rugs with extremely fine pattern detail — the kind of edge clarity that holds up under close inspection. The yarn here is solution-dyed polypropylene — the colour goes through the fibre rather than sitting on it, so a fade only happens after years in direct sun. At 19mm of pile, this is a true sink-your-feet-in shaggy. Pile twist and density together are what give this piece the longevity that the warranty implies.

On sizing

If this is going under a dining table, measure the table and add at least 60cm on each side so the chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. The Rug Size Guide walks through the details.

Practical notes

This style sits well over limestone tiles, particularly when the rest of the room runs to raw plaster finishes. Vacuum, blot, and live with it. That is genuinely the entire maintenance instruction for a rug like this. Pet hair vacuums out cleanly — the fibre does not hold dander the way a natural pile sometimes can. Rotate the rug end-to-end every few months so foot traffic wears evenly across the surface.

This is the kind of rug that makes the rest of your decisions easier.

Common questions

Will the rug fade in direct sun?

Some fade is possible if a rug sits in direct, unfiltered sun day after day — that's true of any rug. The dyes used here are UV-stabilised and hold up well to the conditions in most Australian rooms.

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.

How thick is the rug overall?

The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.

Will the colour look the same as the website photo?

Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.
