Experience the sumptuous luxury of sinking into the soft, silky fibres of our Lido Collection of rugs. Constructed from a fine blend of microfiber polyester and super soft microset, polypropylene yarn, these deep-pile woven floor-coverings are easy on the eye, easy to clean and ultra hard-wearing. With their Berber (North African) influenced, geometric patterns and solid colouring, they’ll always be the perfect foil for any setting, either contemporary or traditional. Additionally, these rugs are fibre -fast, meaning that they’re non-static and never shed their pile. Deflecting a rich, lustrous sheen, Scandanavianrugs, are reminiscent of of the shimmer radiating from a pool of sunlit water. Spectacular with any decor, these ambient rugs are bound to be part of your home for many years to come.

Of all the Belgian pieces we have carried over the years, Scandanavian Natural is among the more enduring.

Day-to-day

In practice, it pairs especially well with Tasmanian oak floorboards and limewashed walls. For everyday care, vacuum weekly and spot-clean spills as they happen — a damp cloth and a small amount of mild detergent handles almost anything. We sell more of this style to families with school-age children than to any other group, which says something about how it lives.

About the look

The colour story matters here. We sell more cream rugs than any other colour. They suit the way most Australians live: warm-neutral walls, pale timbers, lots of natural light. Design-wise, the surface is restrained enough to layer with strong artwork or strong upholstery without competing. The design is balanced enough to centre a coffee table and quiet enough to let a strong artwork dominate above it.

Construction

At a glance: Belgian Wilton-woven. Belgian mills are the benchmark for machine-made design definition. The look is crisper than what you'd get from most other origins. The fibre is synthetic, but the modern poly yarns we work with feel close to soft wool underfoot and clean up far more easily. This is a 17mm pile — soft, considered, with enough density to spring back from foot traffic without flattening. The construction is built to take the daily compression of foot traffic without flattening through the centre.

Picking the right size

For sizing, the short version is: front legs of the sofa should sit on the rug. For the long version, see our Rug Size Guide.

If your starting point is 'something honest that doesn't shout', this is the rug to short-list.

FAQs

Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?

There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.

Will it cope with kids and pets?

Yes, comfortably. Synthetic pile is stain-resistant, doesn't snag under claws, and lifts spills cleanly. It's the construction we recommend most to growing families.

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.

Can I return it if it isn't right?

Yes — we offer a clear returns window because we know a rug needs to be seen in the actual room. The details are on our returns page, and we'll talk you through it if anything is unclear.

How thick is the rug overall?

The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.
