Experience the sumptuous luxury of sinking into the soft, silky fibres of our Scandanavian Collection of rugs. Constructed from a fine blend of microfiber polyester and super soft microset, polypropylene yarn, these deep-pile woven floor-coverings are easy on the eye, easy to clean and ultra hard-wearing. With their Berber (North African) influenced, geometric patterns and solid colouring, they’ll always be the perfect foil for any setting, either contemporary or traditional. Additionally, these rugs are fibre -fast, meaning that they’re non-static and never shed their pile. Deflecting a rich, lustrous sheen, Scandanavian rugs, are reminiscent of of the shimmer radiating from a pool of sunlit water. Spectacular with any decor, these ambient rugs are bound to be part of your home for many years to come.

Among the grey rugs we currently carry, Scandanavian Grey is one of the most-bought.

Practical notes

In a real Australian room, in any room with white-washed timber, this rug adds the visual weight the floor needs to feel finished. Synthetic pile means you can keep on top of it without specialist care — a regular vacuum and the occasional damp wipe is the entire maintenance routine. Pet hair vacuums out cleanly — the fibre does not hold dander the way a natural pile sometimes can. Rug pad underneath on a hard floor — that is the one accessory we would not skip.

Colour and pattern

Worth a moment on the look of it. Grey rugs sit quietly in a room and let the rest of the space do the talking — it's why they outsell almost everything else we carry. There is enough variation in the weave to keep the rug from reading flat — it has depth without busyness. From above, the surface has a quiet visual rhythm — close up, the construction details start to show.

Built and finished

In one line: Woven in Belgium. Belgian mills are the benchmark for machine-made design definition. The look is crisper than what you'd get from most other origins. Modern polypropylene is a long way from the scratchy synthetic of twenty years ago. Soft underfoot, dense in the weave, and entirely washable. This is a 17mm pile — soft, considered, with enough density to spring back from foot traffic without flattening. Edges are bound and finished cleanly so they sit flat and stay flat.

On sizing

For sizing, the short version is: front legs of the sofa should sit on the rug. For the long version, see our Rug Size Guide.

If you want the room to look finished from the day the rug arrives, Scandanavian Grey delivers on that.

Things customers ask

Is the colour the same on both sides?

No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.

Will it cope with kids and pets?

Yes, comfortably. Synthetic pile is stain-resistant, doesn't snag under claws, and lifts spills cleanly. It's the construction we recommend most to growing families.

How thick is the rug overall?

The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.

Do you offer samples?

We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.
