Living with it
This style sits well over white-washed timber, particularly when the rest of the room runs to high white walls with skirting in cream. Polyester takes well to spot-cleaning — a damp cloth, cool water, and mild detergent will handle most everyday spills. Once you have it down, the rug is one of the lowest-maintenance pieces of furniture you will ever buy.
How it looks
The colour story matters here. Grey rugs sit quietly in a room and let the rest of the space do the talking — it's why they outsell almost everything else we carry. Design-wise, the surface is restrained enough to layer with strong artwork or strong upholstery without competing. The design is balanced enough to centre a coffee table and quiet enough to let a strong artwork dominate above it.
About the make
The short version: Made in Turkey. Turkey has been the centre of rug-making for centuries, and the power-loom tradition that came out of Anatolia in the late 20th century is what makes a piece like this possible at a sensible price. Polyester yarns hold dye exceptionally well, which is why the colours on this piece look as rich as they do. The pile is 11mm, which is what we'd call a true everyday pile — the kind of weight you want under a coffee table or a dining setting. The back of the rug shows the construction clearly — close, even stitching, no slack spots, no thin patches.

Can I return it if it isn't right?

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?
The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.
Does this rug ship rolled or folded?
Rolled. We ship every rug in our range rolled and wrapped — folding can leave a crease in the pile that takes a few weeks to settle out, so we avoid it.
Can I use this with underfloor heating?
Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.
Will this rug shed?
No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.
