Roman is a rug collection that offers both style and practicality. Featuring a variety of designs with non-distinct all-over patterns in grey, terracotta, blue, and brown tones, these rugs are versatile and blend seamlessly with a variety of decor styles.
What our family likes about Roman Atlantic Mystique is the lack of theatre — it is what it looks like, and it does what it should.
On the design
Worth a moment on the look of it. Cream-based rugs sit comfortably in almost any palette — they brighten without bleaching the room out. Design-wise, the surface is restrained enough to layer with strong artwork or strong upholstery without competing. We have laid this in rooms with bold artwork above and minimal furniture, and it sits comfortably in both.
What's under the surface
The short version: Turkish-made. Turkey has been the centre of rug-making for centuries, and the power-loom tradition that came out of Anatolia in the late 20th century is what makes a piece like this possible at a sensible price. Lightweight, water-resistant, mould-resistant, and quietly comfortable underfoot — polypropylene is the rug fibre that does the most with the least. The construction is built to take the daily compression of foot traffic without flattening through the centre.
On sizing
Most of our customers go a size larger than their first instinct. Our Rug Size Guide explains why.
How it handles real life
In a real Australian room, among the rooms our customers describe to us, in a Mornington Peninsula holiday house where the rug rotates between living rooms with the seasons is the most common context for a piece like this. For wine, blood, or any pigmented spill, blot quickly with cold water and a mild detergent — the colour will lift before it has time to bond. The pile does not snag, which matters if you have a clawed animal in the house. We sell more of this style to families with school-age children than to any other group, which says something about how it lives.
A confident, low-key choice — that is the short version of why we recommend Roman Atlantic Mystique.
Common questions
Can I steam clean this rug?
Light steam is fine for synthetic pile. Avoid prolonged direct heat in one spot, and let the rug dry completely before walking on it.
Do you offer samples?
We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.
Will the colour look the same as the website photo?
Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.
Is the colour the same on both sides?
No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.
How long does delivery take to my address?
Most metro orders arrive within 3–7 business days. Regional and remote addresses can take a little longer. We'll send tracking the moment your rug leaves the warehouse.
