There is nothing trend-led about Vintage Grey. It is built and priced to outlast whichever decorating wave is currently passing through.

On colour

The colour story matters here. Grey rugs sit quietly in a room and let the rest of the space do the talking — it's why they outsell almost everything else we carry. The motif is a modern reading of a traditional layout — there is enough of the original character to feel inherited, without the formal weight of an antique. In strong afternoon light the tones warm noticeably — in cooler southern light, the palette reads slightly more grounded.

Day-to-day

In practice, we see this style most often in inner-city terraces with high ceilings and dark hardwood floors. Wipe spills with a damp cloth, vacuum on a regular setting, and rotate the rug end-to-end once a year. Nothing else is required. Vacuum once a week, spot-treat the inevitable accidents, and the rug does not ask for anything else.

Construction

Underneath the look, Egyptian-woven. Egyptian flatweaves are built for hose-down ease — the construction is dense, the fibres are stabilised, and the result handles a wet patio with no fuss. Polypropylene is the fibre we end up recommending in roughly four out of five conversations with new customers. It is honest, hard-wearing, and forgiving. At 10mm, this is a sensible everyday pile — substantial without being shaggy, easy to keep clean. Construction-wise, this is built to look the same six months in as the day it arrived.

Things customers ask

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.

Will the pattern repeat be obvious?

Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.

Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?

There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.

How long does delivery take to my address?

Most metro orders arrive within 3–7 business days. Regional and remote addresses can take a little longer. We'll send tracking the moment your rug leaves the warehouse.

Is the colour the same on both sides?

No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.
