About the look
Worth a moment on the look of it. There's a reason grey has been the default neutral of the last decade — it forgives, it cools, and it lets coloured furniture and art read clearly above it. Up close, the construction details emerge; from across the room, the rug reads as a single restrained colour field. In strong afternoon light the tones warm noticeably — in cooler southern light, the palette reads slightly more grounded.
Day-to-day
Day to day, it is built for the realities of a child's room — drawn on, danced on, sat on for entire afternoons. Spot-clean with mild detergent and cool water. Avoid harsh chemicals — they're not needed and can damage the dye. Drag a chair, drop a fork, knock over the wine — this construction tolerates all three.
What's under the surface
Woven in Belgium. Belgian mills are the benchmark for machine-made design definition. The look is crisper than what you'd get from most other origins. Density and twist are what separate a good polypropylene rug from a poor one — both have been done properly here. The construction is built to take the daily compression of foot traffic without flattening through the centre.
Picking the right size

Questions we get asked
Will it cope with kids and pets?
Yes, comfortably. Synthetic pile is stain-resistant, doesn't snag under claws, and lifts spills cleanly. It's the construction we recommend most to growing families.
How thick is the rug overall?
The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.
Will it sit flat once unrolled?
Almost always within 24–48 hours. If you see any waves from the rolled packaging, lay the rug pile-up in the room and let it relax overnight — gravity does the rest. For stubborn corners, rolling the rug briefly in the opposite direction usually does it.
Will the colour look the same as the website photo?
Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.
Is the back of the rug latex-coated?
The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.
