About the make

At a glance: Made in Belgium on Wilton looms. Belgian mills are the benchmark for machine-made design definition. The look is crisper than what you'd get from most other origins. There is a reason every major Australian rug retailer leans on polypropylene for family-room pieces — nothing else combines this much durability with this little fuss. The 15mm pile gives this rug genuine softness underfoot — particularly good for a bedroom or a sitting room you actually want to sit on the floor in. Construction-wise, this is built to look the same six months in as the day it arrived.

Living with it

In practice, in a typical Australian living room — polished concrete floors, off-white walls — it sits comfortably without competing for attention. Spot-clean with mild detergent and cool water. Avoid harsh chemicals — they're not needed and can damage the dye. Pet-friendly in the most useful sense: claws won't catch the way they do on a looped pile, and the surface vacuums cleanly. Vacuum once a week, spot-treat the inevitable accidents, and the rug does not ask for anything else.

About the look

The palette here is restrained, which is exactly what most of our customers tell us they're looking for. Tonally, the rug shifts subtly through the day — warmer in morning light, more grounded in the cooler hours of the afternoon. Stand in the doorway and the rug barely registers; sit on the floor and the texture and pile depth come forward.

Picking the right size

We carry this in a few sizes — a 160x230cm sits well under a coffee table, a 200x290cm anchors a standard three-piece lounge, and the 240x330cm extends well past a queen bed. See our Rug Size Guide for the full layout breakdown.

Choose this one when you want the decision to be over.

Questions we get asked

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.

Can I cut the rug to size?

We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.

How thick is the rug overall?

The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.

Will this rug shed?

No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.
