On colour
Blue is a forgiving colour in a rug — it reads calm, it works in coastal rooms, and it sits beautifully against the white walls common in Australian builds. The pattern reads cleanly from across the room and only reveals its detail close up. It is the kind of surface that lets the rest of your room read clearly without competing.
About the make
At a glance: Produced in Belgium. The Wilton tradition in Belgium produces rugs with extremely fine pattern detail — the kind of edge clarity that holds up under close inspection. The case for polypropylene in a family room is straightforward: it is cheaper to replace than upholstery and tougher to ruin than wool. At 15mm, the pile is on the plusher side of our range — it has the kind of give that makes a bedroom rug worth waking up to. Density is what matters with a piece like this — it is what gives the rug its longevity.
Sizing
Most of our customers go a size larger than their first instinct. Our Rug Size Guide explains why.
How it handles real life
It earns its keep in any room that has blackbutt floorboards as a starting point. Vacuum on a medium setting weekly, and once a month go over the rug end-to-end with the suction set higher to lift trapped dust from the base. The pile does not snag, which matters if you have a clawed animal in the house. Lay it once and forget it is there. That is the right frame of mind for a piece like this.
Contemporary Cove Kimberlite is one of the easier yeses in our range — solidly made, calmly priced, no surprises.
FAQs
Will the rug fade in direct sun?
Some fade is possible if a rug sits in direct, unfiltered sun day after day — that's true of any rug. The dyes used here are UV-stabilised and hold up well to the conditions in most Australian rooms.
Can I return it if it isn't right?
Yes — we offer a clear returns window because we know a rug needs to be seen in the actual room. The details are on our returns page, and we'll talk you through it if anything is unclear.
Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?
There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.
Can I cut the rug to size?
We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.
Can I steam clean this rug?
Light steam is fine for synthetic pile. Avoid prolonged direct heat in one spot, and let the rug dry completely before walking on it.
