How it handles real life
In a typical Australian living room — blackbutt floorboards, raw plaster finishes — it sits comfortably without competing for attention. The synthetic fibre tolerates household cleaners better than wool, but in our experience nothing more aggressive than cool soapy water is ever necessary. Pet-friendly in the most useful sense: claws won't catch the way they do on a looped pile, and the surface vacuums cleanly. We have laid one of these under our own dining table for several years; it still reads as new.
On the design
Worth a moment on the look of it. Beige is the most forgiving floor colour we carry — it hides dust, dog hair, and the small disasters of daily life better than almost any other shade. There is depth to the surface — the weave changes height subtly across the pattern, which is what gives the rug its tactile quality. Layered with a leather chair, a brass floor lamp, and a stack of books, the rug holds its end of the conversation without forcing it.
How it's made
At a glance: Made in Belgium on Wilton looms. Belgian weaving has a reputation for precision, and you can see it in the way the pattern sits on the surface of this rug. Heat-set polypropylene yarns hold their twist for years — that is what stops the pile flattening under a coffee table or sofa leg. At 15mm, the pile is on the plusher side of our range — it has the kind of give that makes a bedroom rug worth waking up to. Build quality holds up to close inspection — there are no shortcuts in the weave or the finish.
Which size?
We carry this in a few sizes — a 160x230cm sits well under a coffee table, a 200x290cm anchors a standard three-piece lounge, and the 240x330cm extends well past a queen bed. See our Rug Size Guide for the full layout breakdown.
This is the kind of rug that makes the rest of your decisions easier.
Things customers ask
How thick is the rug overall?
The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.
Can I use this with underfloor heating?
Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.
How do I get rid of a stain?
Blot — never rub. Cool water and a small amount of mild detergent on a clean cloth handles most spills. Work from the outside of the stain in. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
Will the pattern repeat be obvious?
Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.
Does it work with a robot vacuum?
Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.
