Among the Belgian pieces in our range, Contemporary Cove sits in the well-balanced middle — not the cheapest, not the most expensive, simply the most-bought.
Built and finished
Underneath the look, Belgian-made with European precision. The Wilton tradition in Belgium produces rugs with extremely fine pattern detail — the kind of edge clarity that holds up under close inspection. Polypropylene does not hold odour the way wool can, which matters in a home with pets or open-plan cooking. The pile height is 15mm — substantial enough to feel luxurious without crossing into shaggy territory. Look at the underside and you can see how dense the weave actually is — it is the part of the rug that does the real work.
On the design
Worth a moment on the look of it. Blue is a forgiving colour in a rug — it reads calm, it works in coastal rooms, and it sits beautifully against the white walls common in Australian builds. Visually, the rug is doing the work of a quiet anchor — not a pattern statement, not a punctuation mark, simply a calm plane underfoot. Across a 200x290cm or 240x330cm, that calm reads as confidence rather than absence.
Day-to-day
It is a comfortable fit in a sandstone-floored Adelaide home that benefits from the warmth a rug brings — exactly the kind of space most of our customers are decorating. Wipe spills with a damp cloth, vacuum on a regular setting, and rotate the rug end-to-end once a year. Nothing else is required. Pet-friendly in the most useful sense: claws won't catch the way they do on a looped pile, and the surface vacuums cleanly. Lay it once and forget it is there. That is the right frame of mind for a piece like this.
On sizing
If you are between sizes, we almost always recommend sizing up. Our Rug Size Guide has the room-by-room measurements we use ourselves.
This is a rug we recommend without hedging. It does what it should.
Questions we get asked
Can I return it if it isn't right?
Yes — we offer a clear returns window because we know a rug needs to be seen in the actual room. The details are on our returns page, and we'll talk you through it if anything is unclear.
Does this rug ship rolled or folded?
Rolled. We ship every rug in our range rolled and wrapped — folding can leave a crease in the pile that takes a few weeks to settle out, so we avoid it.
Can I cut the rug to size?
We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.
Can I put a rug pad underneath?
Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.
Can I steam clean this rug?
Light steam is fine for synthetic pile. Avoid prolonged direct heat in one spot, and let the rug dry completely before walking on it.
