The Decora range abounds with beautiful, delicate, floral designs that celebrate the clever combination of well-coordinated colour with exciting texture. These rugs, with their vibrancy, are certain to light up even the dullest of spaces. Detailed enough to set off the simplest of furnishings, these rugs are nevertheless subtle enough to blend well in most living areas. Experience the pleasure of traditional design with modern-day resilience, a floor-piece that is eye-catching, but practical in every sense.

It is rare for a piece to satisfy both the value-conscious buyer and the customer renovating to keep — Decora Runner Red manages both.

On the design

The colour story matters here. Reds are bold by nature and reward rooms with enough scale to carry them — high ceilings, good light, generous walls. The medallion pattern at the centre is a clear nod to traditional rug-weaving — softened here so it reads quietly rather than ornate. Across a 200x290cm or 240x330cm, that calm reads as confidence rather than absence.

How it handles real life

In practice, this is the kind of piece that works in newer Australian builds with pale oak floorboards and a lot of glazing. The synthetic fibre tolerates household cleaners better than wool, but in our experience nothing more aggressive than cool soapy water is ever necessary. It tolerates open doors, indoor-outdoor traffic, and the dust that an Australian summer drags in across a polished concrete floor.

Construction

Underneath the look, produced in Belgium. Belgian weaving has a reputation for precision, and you can see it in the way the pattern sits on the surface of this rug. Polypropylene yarns take colour exceptionally well — the tones you see in the photo are stable and hold up under daily sun exposure. The 15mm pile gives this rug genuine softness underfoot — particularly good for a bedroom or a sitting room you actually want to sit on the floor in. Build quality holds up to close inspection — there are no shortcuts in the weave or the finish.

Sizing

A runner needs to leave a hand's-width of floor visible at each end of the hallway — see our Rug Size Guide for the room-by-room guidance.

We've sold Decora Runner Red to hundreds of Australian homes, and the feedback rarely changes — it just works.

FAQs

Can I put a rug pad underneath?

Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.

How long does delivery take to my address?

Most metro orders arrive within 3–7 business days. Regional and remote addresses can take a little longer. We'll send tracking the moment your rug leaves the warehouse.

How thick is the rug overall?

The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.

Will the pattern repeat be obvious?

Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.

Will it sit flat once unrolled?

Almost always within 24–48 hours. If you see any waves from the rolled packaging, lay the rug pile-up in the room and let it relax overnight — gravity does the rest. For stubborn corners, rolling the rug briefly in the opposite direction usually does it.
