Understated elegance lends spectacular class to the floral design of this range in its cool hues of blue or grey and relaxed tones of subtle rose or mustard. Medina is fashionably on point with its exceptionally chic, faded look. It's Trendy, but features a classic design, so it will highlight the features of a room without being overbearing in any way. This rug with its contemporary countenance will create an ambient, genteel mood in your living space that will, certainly, be an element of ongoing pride. FEATURES:

We added Medina Cream to the range for one reason: it does the basics extremely well.

Living with it

This style sits well over Spotted gum floors, particularly when the rest of the room runs to double-height living spaces with a lot of glazing. Avoid steam, avoid bleach, avoid solvent cleaners. Cool water and mild detergent is the protocol our family uses on every poly rug we own. Build the room around it. It will hold the centre and stay quiet while the rest of the space changes around it.

Colour and pattern

Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. Cream is the warmest of the neutrals — it lifts a room without going stark white, and it works beautifully with timber, brass, and linen. The pattern reads as quietly contemporary rather than fashionable — the kind of design that doesn't date in a hurry. Layered with a leather chair, a brass floor lamp, and a stack of books, the rug holds its end of the conversation without forcing it.

How it's made

At a glance: Anatolian-woven. Turkey has been the centre of rug-making for centuries, and the power-loom tradition that came out of Anatolia in the late 20th century is what makes a piece like this possible at a sensible price. There is a reason every major Australian rug retailer leans on polypropylene for family-room pieces — nothing else combines this much durability with this little fuss. At 10mm, this is a sensible everyday pile — substantial without being shaggy, easy to keep clean. Construction-wise, this is built to look the same six months in as the day it arrived.

This is a rug we recommend without hedging. It does what it should.

Common questions

Can I put a rug pad underneath?

Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.

Does it work with a robot vacuum?

Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.

Will the rug fade in direct sun?

Some fade is possible if a rug sits in direct, unfiltered sun day after day — that's true of any rug. The dyes used here are UV-stabilised and hold up well to the conditions in most Australian rooms.
