The Calypso range is available in grey, beige, honey, silver and cream; colours that blend rather than clash with any setting. Marvelously hardwearing and aesthetically attractive, this rug synthesizes in perfect fusion with any decor. Fabulous for living rooms, bedrooms or entrance halls, this floor piece offers a treasure of possibilities for your home.

Calypso Grey is one of those rugs where the photo doesn't quite do justice to how it reads in person.

What's under the surface

Underneath the look, Belgian-made with European precision. Belgian weaving has a reputation for precision, and you can see it in the way the pattern sits on the surface of this rug. Polypropylene is a thermoplastic, which means stains do not bond to the fibre the way they would with a natural staple. The 15mm pile gives this rug genuine softness underfoot — particularly good for a bedroom or a sitting room you actually want to sit on the floor in. Look at the underside and you can see how dense the weave actually is — it is the part of the rug that does the real work.

How it looks

Worth a moment on the look of it. A grey-toned rug is the easiest way to anchor a room without committing to a strong palette. Visually, the rug is doing the work of a quiet anchor — not a pattern statement, not a punctuation mark, simply a calm plane underfoot. Layered over a hard floor, it gives a room the visual weight it usually needs at floor level.

How it handles real life

Day to day, it earns its keep in any room that has polished concrete floors as a starting point. It will not stain the way a wool or cotton rug can — wine, juice, and pet accidents lift with a damp cloth if you get to them within a reasonable window. Rug pad underneath on a hard floor — that is the one accessory we would not skip.

Which size?

Sizes range across our usual run — if you're unsure which to pick, our Rug Size Guide walks through the common Australian room layouts.

Things customers ask

Can I cut the rug to size?

We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.

Will the rug fade in direct sun?

Some fade is possible if a rug sits in direct, unfiltered sun day after day — that's true of any rug. The dyes used here are UV-stabilised and hold up well to the conditions in most Australian rooms.

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.

Does it work with a robot vacuum?

Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.

Will this rug shed?

No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.
