Construction
In one line: Made for the realities of family life. What matters with this piece is the construction — it's made to take real family use without fuss. Polypropylene yarns take colour exceptionally well — the tones you see in the photo are stable and hold up under daily sun exposure. At 8mm, this is a sensible everyday pile — substantial without being shaggy, easy to keep clean. The construction is built to take the daily compression of foot traffic without flattening through the centre.
Practical notes
In practice, designed for patios, decks, and verandas. Leave it out year-round in most parts of Australia and it will hold its colour through the worst of the sun. The synthetic fibre tolerates household cleaners better than wool, but in our experience nothing more aggressive than cool soapy water is ever necessary. A good shake outdoors once a season and a regular vacuum is the whole maintenance story.
On colour
Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. There's a reason grey has been the default neutral of the last decade — it forgives, it cools, and it lets coloured furniture and art read clearly above it. Up close, the construction details emerge; from across the room, the rug reads as a single restrained colour field. Questions we get asked
Will the pattern repeat be obvious?
Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.
How thick is the rug overall?
The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.
How do I get rid of a stain?
Hose it down. If the spill is something serious, a mild detergent and a soft brush will get the rest, and the sun finishes the job.
Does it work with a robot vacuum?
Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.
Can I cut the rug to size?
We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.
