The Colorado rug is a machine-made Turkish rug that boasts a natural, jute-like appearance while also offering superior durability and ease of maintenance. Unlike traditional jute rugs, the Colorado rug is designed to be vacuumed easily and cleaned without difficulty, minimizing shedding and maintaining a fresh, polished look. Additionally, this rug is resistant to yellowing when exposed to moisture, making it a great choice for high-traffic or outdoor areas. If you're looking for a rug that brings the natural aesthetic of jute with less maintenance, the Colorado rug is an ideal option.

We rate Colorado Runner Light Grey as a sound, hard-wearing choice for any room that needs an unfussy base.

How it looks

The colour story matters here. Grey rugs sit quietly in a room and let the rest of the space do the talking — it's why they outsell almost everything else we carry. Up close, the construction details emerge; from across the room, the rug reads as a single restrained colour field. Photographs flatten the surface; in person, the weave reads with more dimension than any catalogue image can convey.

Construction

From Turkey's long power-loom tradition. The Turkish weaving industry has refined power-loom production to a point where the result is genuinely close to the look of a traditionally woven rug. Polypropylene is a thermoplastic, which means stains do not bond to the fibre the way they would with a natural staple. A 10mm pile feels soft on bare feet but doesn't trap dust the way a longer pile can. Selvedges are finished cleanly so the rug sits flush against itself without curling at the edges.

Living with it

The construction is UV-stable and the fibre does not absorb water — hose it down, let it dry in the sun, and it is back in service. It will not stain the way a wool or cotton rug can — wine, juice, and pet accidents lift with a damp cloth if you get to them within a reasonable window. Rug pad underneath on a hard floor — that is the one accessory we would not skip.

Picking the right size

Runners are about scale, not just length — leave at least 10cm of floor visible on each side of the runner so the hallway doesn't feel boxed in. Our Rug Size Guide has the proportions we recommend.

Reliable, calm, hard-wearing — three words that describe Colorado Runner Light Grey fairly.

FAQs

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.

Can I cut the rug to size?

We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.

Will it sit flat once unrolled?

Almost always within 24–48 hours. If you see any waves from the rolled packaging, lay the rug pile-up in the room and let it relax overnight — gravity does the rest. For stubborn corners, rolling the rug briefly in the opposite direction usually does it.

Can I steam clean this rug?

Yes, but a hose is usually faster and just as effective.

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.
