Textured relief and compact weaving, give our Imperial collection, both a sense and look of opulence. Deferentially constructed to form flat and raised pile areas, these rugs project a tactile character all of their own. Subtle patterns, with lustrous sheen in both abstract and vintage designs make these rugs a suitable pairing for most spaces, be they modern or traditional. Woven from a combination of 55% Polyester and 45% Polypropylene, with raised sections at an 11mm pile height, these timeless pieces, which capture and radiate light, will be the talking point of your decor.

There is a particular kind of buyer who lands on Imperial Nuvola and stays there: someone who has looked at fifty rugs and wants to stop.

Practical notes

Day to day, it is a comfortable fit in a Hobart sandstone home with stone floors that benefit from the weight of a substantial rug — exactly the kind of space most of our customers are decorating. Synthetic pile means you can keep on top of it without specialist care — a regular vacuum and the occasional damp wipe is the entire maintenance routine. Rotate the rug end-to-end every few months so foot traffic wears evenly across the surface.

Colour and pattern

Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. There's a reason grey has been the default neutral of the last decade — it forgives, it cools, and it lets coloured furniture and art read clearly above it. Up close you can see how the dye sits in the fibre — saturated, even, with none of the patchiness of a cheaper construction. In strong afternoon light the tones warm noticeably — in cooler southern light, the palette reads slightly more grounded.

What's under the surface

Belgian-made with European precision. Belgian weaving has a reputation for precision, and you can see it in the way the pattern sits on the surface of this rug. We have lived with polypropylene rugs in our own homes for years. They survive children, vacuum cleaners, and the occasional small disaster without losing their shape. At 11mm, this is a sensible everyday pile — substantial without being shaggy, easy to keep clean. Look at the underside and you can see how dense the weave actually is — it is the part of the rug that does the real work.

Which size?

If this is going under a dining table, measure the table and add at least 60cm on each side so the chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. The Rug Size Guide walks through the details.

Imperial Nuvola is the kind of buy you make once, lay down, and stop thinking about.

Common questions

Can I return it if it isn't right?

Yes — we offer a clear returns window because we know a rug needs to be seen in the actual room. The details are on our returns page, and we'll talk you through it if anything is unclear.

How long does delivery take to my address?

Most metro orders arrive within 3–7 business days. Regional and remote addresses can take a little longer. We'll send tracking the moment your rug leaves the warehouse.

How do I get rid of a stain?

Blot — never rub. Cool water and a small amount of mild detergent on a clean cloth handles most spills. Work from the outside of the stain in. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.

Will it sit flat once unrolled?

Almost always within 24–48 hours. If you see any waves from the rolled packaging, lay the rug pile-up in the room and let it relax overnight — gravity does the rest. For stubborn corners, rolling the rug briefly in the opposite direction usually does it.

Does it work with a robot vacuum?

Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.
